My kids love, love, love this book. Especially the two-year-old. He talks about Nini cat all the time. If he even hears the word "cat" he repeats it "Nini cat" because he loves this book so much. He will even sit and "read" the book to himself--he has asked for it to be read to him so many times, he has memorized what lines go with which pages. The pictures are beautiful and the story line is fun. Creates a warm and cozy world juxtaposed against the scary night world that Nini gets caught in when she strays too far from home...

This is a perfectly constructed picture book. Story of a little cat who leaves the house for an outside adventure, but realizes inside is the place to be ... for now. A gentle, satisfying story for younger kids.
Young cat lovers will be enamored by Nini’s colorful home in this oversized picture book. The large font tells me the intended audience is new readers, but those who can’t yet read words can ‘read’ the bold drawings.

Some pages are double-spreads that bleed off the edges. Some illustrations are large, almost like framed prints, with the text at the bottom. Some picture this happy tabby cat enjoying herself on blank uncluttered backgrounds.

Timid children may be frightened by the bold pages when the big bear and other animals are chasing Nini, so use discretion before you choose to share this book with the very young.

All is well that ends well for this wandering cat when she returns and concludes her home is nicer than “out there.”
i would have preferred to pay a a bit more and get better printing, but all the same the price is reasonable and I was able to buy this beautiful story book
My grandson read this until it fell apart so he got another for Christmas. The story is quick to read, full of danger and adventure and the illustrations are great! It is a must for every family library.

This is such a beautiful book. Nini the cat reminds me of my own gray tabby, so eager to explore the exciting world beyond the house, and yet so relieved and happy to be safe at home again. The paintings are lush and mesmerizing; I can almost smell the flowers, and feel the evening world that Nini feels.
