No way to get around it, this book is very dark, cringeworthy dark, self questioning dark...why am I liking it, and why do I keep reading it, dark.

Fair warning about this book is necessary....it is not for the faint of heart.

Yet I did like it and I kept reading it until I was finished, no matter that it was 12:30 and I am up at 5:30 to start my day.

Ella Dominguez is a fantastic writer. She has never disappointed and certainly not with Grace Street. Grace Street had me sucked in from the first blurbs appearing on Goodreads and from the intermittent teasers that were posted. The book finally appeared on Amazon and I devoured it.

Without going into too much detail, Grace St tells of Elsa, disillusioned, hurting and self protective, who leaves her Boston home to start fresh in Richmond after an extremely painful breakup. Victor/Mr. Black, a hardened criminal profiler, who picks mostly women, or as he call them, Chapters, for sport to break down, under the guise of helping them. He happens across Elsa and is relentless in his pursuit and infiltration into her life, needing to know everything about her.

He doesn't bargain for Elsa's resilience and determination, despite being already broken, She is a formidable partner in his games and quite throws him off his.

I could not put the book down and now I have a major book hangover and the need to start it all over again to pick up what I missed, which is inevitable when I am anxious to know the outcome. Grace Street has all of the elements I enjoy...erotic, dark, sexy, mind engaging. Elsa and Victor have this undeniable chemistry and in spite of the darkness, Ella allows us to see them in light, as well.

This is a two book series and ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger. I want more of Elsa and Victor. I loved Elsa for her spirit and drive and her mother, Elise, who makes an appearance and allows the reader to see where Elsa gets her strength. I loved Victor, beautiful and damaged and beyond redemption.....maybe. Hopefully Grace Street 2 will be out soon and I will find out.

Let me start by saying that I've read Ella Dominguez's Art of D/s series last year, and I enjoyed it.

But her new novel/series, Grace Street (Chapter 8, #1), was in a league of its own. This twisted novel rocked my world! The hero and heroine were both strong yet very damaged. Their story was psychologically dark and gritty, and I couldn't stop reading it!

I have read nearly all of Ella's books! She is an extremely talented writer who can tell a story like nobody's business. And for twisted, dark romance there's none better in my opinion. Return to Grace Street grabbed my attention from the first page. She warns you that this is not really a romance...all lovey dovey as one normally thinks of a romance. Some might even go so far as to call it nothing but a dark, sick tale of sadistic domination with actions so cruel they turn your stomach. BUT, there's more to it.
Now granted, this book will definitely not be for everyone. But I know there are more out there like me who will read this and study "Mr. Black" like Elsa does, trying to figure out why he is who he is. I highly recommend this book to those who are not turned off by twisted, dark stories.
I loved this book so much that I'm actually pissed that I have to wait for #2! Like seriously stomp your foot throw a temper tantrum and throw my across the room pissed! Write faster! Please!
This book had me hooked from the start and I could not put it down. Victor deserved a swift unexpected kick in the nuts for being a douche but I still loved him. He's just so perfectly flawed. Elsa on the other hand, well the author does warn us she makes bad decisions ahead of time but she really wasn't kidding. There were times I wished I could reach through the pages and grab her by the hair and smack some sense into her. The concept of the story is so engaging. I was able to guess what our "hero's" deep dark secrets were but only because it's what I thought would make the story ironic and it's what I would have written if I was as talented as the author. It didn't spoil the story for me in the least. I absolutely cannot wait for the second installment. To be continued......
